Today is Mine

Do you ever feel like God designs seasons specially with you in mind? For example, right now, I feel like God has given me, just me, a special gift in this extended autumn we’re experiencing. I know there are a gazillion people in this world, and I know that He loves all of us equally. I also know that I’m not special; I’m just a tiny spec on this massive planet. But today, I feel like I’m His favorite child.
This maple tree is on our property, and it’s typically in full color the week before Halloween. I took this photo today, November 8th, 2021, and it’s showing its brilliant display almost 3 weeks past peak. The vibrant golden color seem brighter than usual this year. The contrast between the gold leaves and the blue sky is remarkable and the wind blowing through the leaves audibly describes the word “calm." It could be a million practical things: climate change, coincidence, an unusually rainy summer, an equally unusually warm autumn. This I know. But today, I’m going to just go with it and believe that the God who created the universe and everything in it designed this autumn just for me.
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
